You know, the ignorance of the people in Maine really is starting to piss me off.

Gay marriage was legalized like Spring this year and then some asshole came and made a petition to repeal the law.

They kept arguing that if gay marriage was legalized(Which it already was anyway) that it would be taught in school because a few teachers in Vermont talked to some kids that asked if a man and a man could be married.
If the schools wanted to make it part of the heath lessons, then it would have already been done since gay marriage didn't sneak up on us at all. It's known world wide.

Also, that if gay marriage was put forth then gays would be given more rights than normal people married would have. Which is a bunch of shit again because they're normal people, they don't want anything more really from what I've learned.

What really pisses me off though, my mom said this one, "Why do they need it? They can call it a partnership, that's what they usually call it."
So.. um.. When slavery was around they said, "They're just blacks, they don't need rights."

Just because they call it a partnership doesn't mean they don't want to be committed together by a true marriage.

What if.. people over the age of 30 weren't allowed to marry? Would people bitch? Yeah, they would because they feel a need to be committed to each other through holy matrimony.

Do we the the rights to deny people over the age of 30 to marry?
No.
So why do we have the rights to say two people of the same sex can't get married in the state of Maine?


I really don't get why people are against it, it has nothing to do with them or schools. It's just marriage.

One kid in my class said, "They can be together, but they need to call it something else."
What else can they call it?
You want to deny people the right to be happy together because they have different sexual preferences?

This is an all time low for Christians and Catholics in Maine, they need to get over it and let new traditions settle in. It's discrimination.
